AR computer quizzes
Book Reports:
1. Each quarter sixth and seventh graders are required to write one “short book report,” following “AR Short Book Report Guidelines” (available from homeroom teacher). Students will receive a maximum of 50 % of the points received on the AR computer test taken on the book.
2. Each quarter eighth graders are required to write one book report following “AR Long Book Report Guidelines” (available from homeroom teacher). Students will receive a maximum of 100 % of the points received on the AR computer test taken on the book.
Students may receive a 10% point bonus for each book read within their “STAR READING LEVEL GUIDELINES” identified by their most recent STAR test.
FAILED COMPUTER TESTS—MUST BE RE-TAKEN!!! Any student failing a test will be required to write a chapter outline of the book (three-four sentences per chapter). After submitting the chapter outline to the supervising teacher, the student will be required to retake the test (after the teacher has “reset” the computer). If the student fails the test a second time, he will receive a maximum of FORTY PERCENT of the points assigned the book to a maximum of 10 points. He will not retake the test a third time.
PIZZA RANCH CERTIFICATES:

Students completing 50 % of the points required for a “C” by showing COMPLETED AR TEST POINTS ON THE COMPUTER by 3:30 p.m. the day before progress reports are distributed will receive two Pizza Ranch Bucks..
Students completing requirements for a “B” by the end of the quarter will receive one Pizza Ranch Buck; students completing requirements for an “A” will receive two Pizza Ranch Dollars. Students completing requirements for an “Accelerated A” will receive three Pizza Ranch Bucks.

All books read for an “Accelerated A” must be no lower than “.3” from the top of the student’s identified “Reading Zone” and no higher than "1.0" above the identified Reading Zone.”
